Visual Schema Displacement Therapy (VSDT)®
Visual Schema Displacement Therapy (VSDT)® is a visual-based therapy for the treatment of fears and trauma-related mental health problems, including PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder).
Since 2015, Nik and Eva have been working with psychology professors at Universities in Amsterdam and Utrecht, who have conducted scientific studies into the workings of VSDT®. Initially, two scientific study papers proving its remarkable efficacy vs. EMDR, was published in June 2019 in The Journal Of Behaviour Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry. The third study with a significantly larger sample was published in The European Journal of Psychotraumatology in April 2021. A fourth study (with hospital patients) is currently underway, and will be completed by the end of 2022.
Visual Schema Displacement Therapy (VSDT)® is a therapy that involves eye movements, similar to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and reprocessing), a well-established first-line treatment for PTSD. However, eye movements are performed differently, and VSDT® therapy also contains several other elements.
